Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and community service. First, his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on an Eufala farm. In football, he was alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third year in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week throughout his college years. He moved to Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame named him as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
