She's the daughter of Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). Her mother works as an agent while her father works as a civil engineer. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School in the city of Germantown in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood in 1994. In 1998, Walker earned an undergraduate diploma at Harvard College. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck located in Philadelphia and has two children. In 2014 they began having an affair. John his husband, John's father is four years younger than John. The relationship was enjoying itself and they decided to keep their friendship going. They were was married on the 4th of March 2017.
